The Holiness of God

The preeminent attribute of God is holiness. This unique nature both drives and limits God’s revelation of Himself to His creation.

There is none holy as the LORD: for there is none beside thee. (1 Samuel 2:2; see also Exodus 15:11 and Isaiah 6:3)

This holiness requires truth. God cannot lie (Titus 1:2), and whenever God reveals anything, He must reveal the truth about Himself and His nature.

Wherein God, willing more abundantly to shew unto the heirs of promise the immutability of his counsel, confirmed it by an oath: That by two immutable things, in which it was impossible for God to lie, we might have a strong consolation. (Hebrews 6:17-18; see also Psalm 89:33 and Amos 4:2)
